The Advanced Technology Program is considering 60 proposals for innovative industrial R&D projects in the photonics manufacturing area. Photonics manufacturing, one of eight focused program competitions for 1998, received the second-highest number of applications.
The program provides funding on a cost-shared basis to industry for R&D on high-risk, emerging technologies that offer significant benefits to the US economy. Approximately $82 million is available in first-year funding for 1998.
