EINDHOVEN, Netherlands — PhotonVentures, a deep-tech venture capital firm, has added Ewit Roos as a general partner. Since 2019, Roos most recently served as PhotonDelta’s CEO, helping to co-found the venture capital firm. PhotonVentures hopes to use Roos’ expertise to help invest in European and Dutch companies that will boost demand and benefit the Dutch integrated photonics industry.

PORT MELBOURNE, Australia — Passive, optical detection solutions developer Sentient Vision Systems appointed Mark Palmer as CEO. Palmer had previously held the position of CTO for the company and had past experience at defense corporations such as Thales and BAE Systems. The move comes after the departure of former CEO and founder Paul Boxer. Callum McGregor, the program director at Sentient, will fill in as CTO.

AUSTIN, Texas — Compact laser-plasma accelerator producer Tau Systems has added Nikolaus Klaus Metzger as director of laser science and technology and Corneliu Catalin Neacsu as vice president of business development. Metzger held a variety of senior engineering roles in Germany, the U.K., and Australia and has a laser and optical engineering background. Neacsu will helm his newly created role after previously holding senior positions in product marketing and business development with lasers manufacturers in Austria, Germany, and the U.S.

HEERBRUGG, Switzerland — Integrated electronics manufacturing services provider and MOEMS manufacturer ESCATEC promoted Lambert Schutters to the position of chief procurement officer. Schutters is charged with tapping into opportunities within the company’s procurement strategies and supply chain processes. Schutters’ previous position within the company as general manager in Penang, Malaysia, will be taken up by Chua “JJ” Jin Jeong.
