GSI Group Inc. announced that John Roush has joined the company as its next CEO. Roush joins the GSI following a 12-year career at PerkinElmer Inc., where he was a corporate officer and served in several senior leadership positions. Most recently, he served as president of the company’s Environmental Health business. Prior to joining PerkinElmer, he held management positions at Outboard Marine Corp., AlliedSignal Inc. (now Honeywell International), McKinsey & Co. Inc. and General Electric. Roush will serve in an advisory capacity during a brief transition period before he will become the company’s CEO in early 2011. He will succeed Michael E. Katzenstein. The move completes the strategic initiative GSI announced on Sept. 9, 2010, to recruit a permanent CEO. “We are extremely pleased to have attracted an executive of John’s caliber and experience to lead GSI’s development and chart its growth strategy for the future,” said Stephen W. Bershad, GSI’s chairman of the board. GSI Group is a precision technology supplier to the global medical, electronics and industrial markets. For more information, visit: www.gsig.com
