COSTA MESA, Calif., March 26 -- Irvine Sensors Corp. reports that its Neo-stack packaging technology is being employed in a project to develop a high-speed removable optical storage system for future Digital Versatile Disk (DVD) systems. The Fast Read-out Optical Storage Technology (FROST) system is being developed by an industry-university consortium led by Call/Recall, Inc. The consortium includes Hewlett-Packard Company, Irvine Sensors and the University of Southern California (USC).
In addition to the FROST consortium's own commitments aggregating $1.3 million, the multi-year program is being substantially funded under a $5.5 million cooperative agreement with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and is working with the United States Air Force Research Laboratory, Rome Research Site.
