OmniVision Profits, Revenues Dip in 2015
Image sensor firm OmniVision Technologies Inc. reported small declines in profits and revenues in fiscal 2015.
Net income for the fiscal year, which ended April 30, was $93.4 million, or $1.57 per diluted share. That's a decrease of 1.7 percent from $95 million, or $1.70 per diluted share, in fiscal 2014.
Revenues for fiscal 2015 year were $1.38 billion, down 5.2 percent from $1.45 billion the previous year.
"We saw a great deal of changes in our business in fiscal 2015," said CEO Shaw Hong. "Our pursuits of opportunities in emerging markets and our efforts in diversifying our supply chain have yielded favorable results. We have also made significant progress in advancing our technologies, which ultimately resulted in the introduction of our most advanced PureCel-S products."
The company expects revenues for the first quarter of fiscal 2016 will be in the range of $310 million to $340 million, with net income between $0.17 and $0.33 per diluted share.
OmniVision develops single-chip CMOS image sensors for consumer and commercial applications, including mobile phones, tablets and entertainment devices, notebooks and webcams, security and surveillance systems, digital still and video cameras, and automotive and medical imaging systems.
