Oclaro Inc. of San Jose, Calif., announced today that it has received official designation as a strategic supplier by telecom solutions provider Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. of Shenzhen, China. The relationship is designed to enable more strategic collaboration on next-generation product developments and will also encourage continued improvement in supporting the current business between them, the companies said. “This designation validates our view that Oclaro has the fab technology, capacity and design expertise to deliver products that extend our leadership in the long haul and metro markets,” said Alain Couder, Oclaro president and CEO. Oclaro, a provider of optical components, modules and subsystems, was formed through the April 2009 merger of Bookham and Avanex.
