Ocean Optics Inc. of Dunedin, Fla., and Centice Corp. of Research Triangle Park, N.C., have entered into an agreement under which Ocean Optics will add Centice’s multimodal multiplex spectroscopy technology to its product portfolio. The Raman spectroscopy system uses a coded wide-area aperture instead of a conventional pinhole or slit entrance to provide high optical throughput without an increase in noise. In other news, Ocean Optics and New Wave Research Inc. of Freemont, Calif., have forged a partnership to develop and manufacture advanced laser-induced-breakdown spectrometry (LIBS) products. The agreement is an extension of the companies’ collaboration on an LIBS system, which provides high-resolution spectral analysis of elements in a variety of materials.
