Ocean Optics Expands Sales Team
Ocean Optics, a Dunedin, Fla., developer of optical sensing, display optics and biophotonics technologies, has expanded its sales team. Cicely Rathmell was promoted to OEM sales manager, and Jorge Macho has joined the company as application sales scientist. Rathmell joined Ocean Optics in 2002 as an applications sales scientist and has worked closely with customers to configure, optimize and troubleshoot spectroscopy systems for use in research, industry and educational settings. In her new position, she will manage sales and customer support to original equipment manufacturers in the medical, sensing and photonics-based industries. Previously, Rathmell was product manager of JDS Uniphase's fiber optic product line. She earned a master of science degree in physics, with an emphasis on laser spectroscopy, from McMaster University (Ontario, Canada) and a bachelor of science degree in physics and chemistry from the University of New Brunswick (New Brunswick, Canada). Macho was formerly innovation and quality manager at Stollberg Inc. (Niagara Falls, N.Y.). In addition to industrial and technical experience, he has spent time in research and development of materials, ceramics, ferrous alloys, analytical techniques and methods development, earning two US patents. He has a doctorate in chemistry from Temple University (Philadelphia) and a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (Mexico City). He is a member of the American Chemical Society and the American Ceramic Society.
