OKI Data Corp., an OKI Group company that specializes in print business, announced that its LED development subsidiary, OKI Digital Imaging has started operations at its newly-acquired production facility in Takasaki City in the Gumma Prefecture region of Japan. Under the acquisition, OKI Data Corp. will be able to achieve a fourfold increase in production capabilities. The company aims to enhance further its non-impact business, in addition to developing new businesses utilizing LED technology. Presently, it focuses on non-impact printers by leveraging advantages brought by LED print heads, such as compact size, high speed and high-precision printing, the company said. Its Digital Imaging company develops LED print heads that utilize Epi Film Bonding (EFB) technology, which enables thin film material to be bonded by utilizing intermolecular bonding force. The new facility includes a clean room that is approximately twice the area of the clean room presently in use. The new space will help the company to continue to invest in EFB technology and accelerate development of high-brightness and high-resolution LED displays. For more information, visit: www.odij.co.jp
