Colibrys has appointed Bfi Optilas as a Pan-European distributor of its MEMS (miroelectromechanical systems) products. Colibrys, based in Neuchatel, Switzerland, is a MEMS supplier to global defense, aerospace, instrumentation and telecommunications industries. Bfi Optilas, of Germany, distributes products and services to the electronics and photonics markets. . . . iCyt Mission Technology Inc.'s Optica Software Div., a provider of virtual modeling and optical systems testing tools designed to be integrated with Mathematica technical computing software, has announced a distribution arrangement with Wolfram Research Inc., the makers of Mathematica. Effective Feb. 28, Wolfram will begin distributing the Optica Software products Rayica and LensLab via its Web site, www.wolfram.com. Optica Software will remain the primary distributor for all of its software products through its own Web site (www.opticasoftware.com). Donald Barnhart, PhD, lead developer of Optica Software products, said, "Our products have been integrally connected for many years. The distribution agreement is recognition that our companies plan to closely collaborate for years to come." Rayica performs geometric, nonsequential, polarization and ray-trace calculations of optical systems in three-dimensional space, building on the symbolic, numeric and graphic capabilities of Mathematica. LensLab is an entry-level product for amateur astronomers and hobbyists that includes features of the original Optica product. . . .
