The board of directors of ESI, a maker of production laser systems for microengineering applications with headquarters in Portland, Ore., has appointed Kerry Mustoe as its interim chief financial officer (CFO), effective immediately. Mustoe has been the company's corporate controller and chief accounting officer since Sept. 2003, and she will continue to serve in those capacities in addition to those of her interim position. ESI says it is conducting an external search for a permanent CFO. . . . Minneapolis-based CyberOptics Corp., a provider of process yield and through-put improvement solutions for the electronic assembly and semiconductor capital equipment markets, has named Stephen J. DiMarco as its vice president of marketing and strategic planning. Prior to joining CyberOptics, DiMarco worked for Emerson Electric Co. for 13 years, most recently as vice president of Emerson's Electromagnetic & Vortex Flow Meters Business Unit. . . . LED chip maker Cree Inc. of Durham, N.C., has licensed its white LED patent to Kingbright Electronic Co. Ltd., a strategic LED chip customer headquartered in Taiwan. The license authorizes Kingbright to manufacture and sell white LEDs that incorporate Cree chips and is one of several licenses that Cree has granted under the same patent this year. Kingbright will be using Cree LED chip products exclusively in its white LED products.
