Vitex Systems Inc. of San Jose, Calif., a provider of encapsulation films used in the production of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays and organic semiconductor applications, announced that Teruo Tohma has joined the company as an advisor. Tohma is known for commercializing the first-ever OLED display while employed at Japanese display manufacturer Tohoku Pioneer. The company says Tohma will assist in accelerating the adoption the company's thin-film barrier encapsulation technology, Barix, among OLED display manufacturers. . . . In a massive exercise to replace its entire stock of 30-year-old student microscopes, the department of biological sciences at Imperial College London have equipped their teaching laboratory with 150 Zeiss Axiostar microscopes. The instruments will be used in undergraduate botany, biomedicine and genetics courses involving light microscopy.
