New Patents Boost Organic Light Emitter Project

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 6 -- Flat panel display developer Universal Display Corp. (UDC) reported that its research partners, Princeton University and the University of Southern California, have received three new patents for the Organic Light Emitter Project. UDC holds the exclusive global license to all patents issued in the Project.
The patents cover the use of organic light-emitting device (OLED) technology in such applications as high-contrast displays, increasing the speed of the fabrication process, and making photovoltaics and photodiodes more efficient through the application of an organic coating. UDC has worked with Princeton and USC to develop OLED technology since 1994. The partnership targets research and commercialization of the technology for applications including flat panel displays, lasers, and light generating devices.
