New Optics Firm Formed
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 11, 2006 -- A new precision optics company has been formed by two industry vets, according to the Rochester Regional Photonics Cluster (RRPC).
"Between the two of them, Jeff Luksich and Mike Wiederhold have more than 40 years experience in the optics business, at Glass Fab, at Angstrom (Precision Optics Inc.), and at JML (Optical Industries Inc.). Now the two have joined to form CaseCor Precision Optics," the RRPC stated in its September newsletter to members. All of the businesses cited operate in the Rochester area.
CaseCor is filling orders from its 5000-sq-ft building on Wayneport Road in Macedon, N.Y., is reviewing blueprints for new work and working contacts for referrals, the RRPC said. "We're taking it slow right now." Wiederhold told the RRPC, "There is already a lot of work in the shop and we are making sure that we can deliver what we promise."
The company is "building on capabilities in precision and plano optics -- mirrors, wedges, etc. -- with plans for confronting the tooling necessary for spheres, cylinders and more complex demands in the near future," RRPC said.
The RRPC is a non-profit founded to promote the New York state photonics, optics and imaging industries. For more information, visit: www.rrpc-ny.org
