New CTO Strengthens PicoQuant’s R&D Department
As PicoQuant GmbH continues its steady growth, the company has broadened its management structures and installed a new chief of technology officer to strengthen its research and development department.
Jürgen Breitlow has succeeded Rainer Erdmann, managing director of PicoQuant, who said Breitlow is an experienced manager who will strengthen the company’s efforts to provide customers with innovative and quality optoelectronic products.
“Jürgen Breitlow has a proven track record in various industries, and his holistic approach will enable us to provide customers with the best and most innovative products even faster,” Erdmann said. “In his approach, the process of innovation becomes an integral part of the whole company, from customer requirements to manufacturing.”
Breitlow studied physics at the Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany) where he completed his diploma degree in experimental semiconductor physics. He developed automotive products at Siemens Electromechanical Components from 1994 to 2000. He then joined Neumann and Sennheiser, where his focus was on developing microphones. During a career spanning more than two decades, he formed a philosophy of innovation that enables harmonizing a broad range of requirements, Erdmann said.
Company officials said PicoQuant’s success is based on extensive research and development activities. Today, the company develops and produces a broad range of optoelectronic components, including picosecond pulsed diode lasers, single photon counting electronics, and a series of turnkey, time-resolved fluorescence microscopy and spectroscopy systems.
“By combining the R&D efforts under a holistic innovation management approach, PicoQuant will be able to offer its customers solutions that are even better adapted to their respective needs than they are today,” Erdmann said.
