Nanya Orders ESI Memory Repair Systems
Electro Scientific Industries Inc., a Portland, Ore., provider of photonics and laser systems for microengineering applications, announced that Nanya Technology Corp. has placed multiple orders for its model UV9835 ultraviolet (UV) laser memory repair system. Nanya, a Taiwan-based memory chipmaker and manufacturer of high-performance DRAMs, will use the laser memory repair systems in the production of its advanced DRAM devices for 90m and 70-nm and smaller geometries, ESI said. ESI will begin shipping the orders in the fourth quarter to Nanya's Taishan Shiang, Taipei County, facility. A member of the Formosa Plastics Group, Nanya Technology has two 200-mm fabrication facilities in Nankan, Taoyuan and Linko city. Its Fab-3 (300 mm) in Taishan is under construction and expected to be in production in the fourth quarter. Nanya has launched joint development programs for 90-, 70- and 60-nm DRAM technology generations and a 300-mm joint venture (Inotera Memories Inc.) with Infineon Technologies AG.
