Through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the National Science Foundation (NSF) has provided a grant to the 28th International Congress on Applications of Lasers & Electro-Optics (ICALEO) to enable graduate students attending a US university to attend the industry’s laser materials processing conference in Orlando, Fla., from Nov. 2 to 5. The grant, which has been given to ICALEO for three years, will be used to support the Student Paper Award at the conference. In 2008, 11 graduate students attended the conference at no cost. The grant program has been established to encourage student innovation and participation in the world’s largest conference of laser and electro-optic technology.
