NP Photonics to Develop Compliant MEMS Technology

NP Photonics of Tucson, Ariz., has acquired Parvenu Inc., based in Westlake Village, Calif. Parvenu, which recently acquired the intellectual property, tunable filter products and compliant microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology of Solus Micro Technologies, also of Westlake Village, will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary and produce tunable filters. MEMS-compliant technology forms the basis of the tunable filters and extends the capabilities of the traditional silicon-based devices. It is expected to provide a framework for more cost effective and better-performing tunable components and modules.

NP Photonics intends to expand its technology base and strengthen its tunable fiber laser product line. The filters will be marketed under its name.
