NEC Corp. and Mitsubishi Electric Corp. of Tokyo have established a joint venture company for the display monitor market, to be known as NEC-Mitsubishi Electric Visual Systems Corp., also based in Tokyo. The company, which will begin operations in April, will employ approximately 700 people from Mitsubishi's display operations and NEC's subsidiary NEC Home Electronics.

NEC-Mitsubishi will comprise Mitsubishi's development operations in Nagasaki, Japan, NEC's technical center in Shonan, Japan, and production facilities in Japan, Mexico, China and Malaysia. The companies' established sales channels will distribute the new products.
