Germantown, Wis.-based LOH Optical Machinery Inc. has lent a Spheronorm CNC-controlled precision optics system to Monroe Community College in Rochester, N.Y., for educational purposes at the school's optical systems technology laboratory. The company says the setup, comprising an SPM 20SL generator and an SPS 20SL polisher, is the first in a training environment in North America. School officials applauded the deal, saying that students who receive hands-on training in CNC technology are more marketable.
