Mitsubishi Electric Names New CEO

TOKYO, Feb. 18, 2010 – Electrical and electronic equipment manufacturer Mitsubishi Electric Corp. has announced Kenichiro Yamanishi as its new president and chief executive officer.

Effective April 1, Yamanishi will replace Setsuhiro Shimomura. Shimomura has been appointed Chairman at the company.

Yamanishi joined the company in 1975, where he served as a researcher in the Applied Equipment Laboratory. He later became the executive officer and group president of its Corporate Total Productivity Management & Environmental Programs in 2006. He served as senior executive officer and group president of Semiconductor & Device most recently.
