ROCHESTER, N.Y., Feb. 15, 2016 — Melles Griot has expanded its high-precision lens assembly manufacturing with the acquisition of an ATS 200 alignment turning station from Trioptics GmbH.
The machine has been successfully integrated into its precision optics facility and is now fully operational for cost-effective volume production of high-performance microscope objectives and other precision lenses, the company said. Melles Griot previously integrated the first ATS 200 installed in North America in its manufacturing facility last year.
The company will develop new products around the technology and is already using it for one of its one of high-numerical-aperture microscope objectives.
“We can now offer custom microscope objectives from prototype to higher-volume production quantities at prices previously achieved by only very high-volume standard objectives,” said Turan Erdogan, site leader at Melles Griot. “This capability is an ideal solution for life science and medical imaging applications like high-content-screening, digital pathology and DNA sequencing, as well as for inspection and metrology applications in semiconductor and industrial markets.”
Melles Griot is a business unit of Idex Health & Science LLC, providing components, optical systems, laser sources and light engines for life science, medical, imaging, semiconductor and defense customers.
