Malcolm O'Neill Joins Edmund Optics Board
Edmund Optics, a Barrington, N.J., developer of optics, imaging and photonics technology for R&D, electronics, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, biomedical and military markets, announced the election of retired Lt. Gen. Malcolm Ross O'Neill, PhD, to its board of directors. O'Neill has an extensive technical and military background and had a distinguished career leading large technical organizations, executing major R&D efforts and managing multibillion dollar acquisition programs. O'Neill recently retired from Lockheed Martin Corp., where he was vice president and chief technical officer. During Dr. O'Neill's 33 years in the US Army, he held a number of posts, including director of the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization; deputy director of the Strategic Defense Initiative Organization and commander of the Army Laboratory Command. O'Neill received a BS in physics from De Paul University and an MA and a doctorate in physics from Rice University. He is chairman of the Board on Army Science and Technology for the National Academies and National Research Council.
