BOULDER, Colo. — ColdQuanta appointed Chris Wood vice president of photonics technologies and Alex Olivas vice president of software engineering and operations. Wood previously held executive roles at Insight Lidar, Kapteyn-Murnane Laboratories, and Precision Photonics. Olivas joins ColdQuanta from the University of Maryland College Park where he served as a research associate and then faculty specialist. He founded the IceCube Open-Source Organization, a gathering of open-source projects from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Machine learning systems developer Luminous Computing named Michael Hochberg president. Hochberg has founded four companies, all of which have been acquired, including two acquisitions by leading telecommunications companies. Luxtera was acquired by Cisco Systems in 2018. HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Teledyne Technologies announced that Janice L. Hess, president of Teledyne’s engineered systems segment and Teledyne Brown Engineering, will retire July 31. Scott Hall will assume the role of president for the engineered systems segment and Teledyne Brown Engineering March 21. Hess will work with Hall in a consulting role to ensure a smooth transition.
