Lumicell Adds CEO: People in the News: 11/20/24
GRENOBLE, France, Nov. 20, 2024 — Scintil Photonics, a photonic integrated circuit developer, has appointed Matt Crowley as CEO, replacing company founder Sylvie Menezo who has been appointed CTO. Crowley joins Scintil following his recent role as senior director of business development at Qualcomm. Crowley was also appointed senior strategic advisor of Sheba Microsystems in June.
FARMINGTON, Conn. — TRUMPF Inc. has promoted Claudio Santopietro to head of Smart Factory consulting and automation, Kevin Cuseo to head of software sales, Julian Schorpp to product manager for automated bend products, and Adam Simons to head of additive manufacturing in North America. Previously, Santopietro served as a software sales engineer and software solutions sales manager, Cuseo worked in software sales, Schorpp served as a sales engineer, and Simons worked in technology sales at TRUMPF.

NEWTON, Mass. — Lumicell, Inc., a developer of fluorescence-guided imaging technologies for cancerous tissue detection during surgery, has appointed Howard Hechler as CEO. Hechler joined Lumicell as senior vice president of corporate development and strategy before being promoted to president.
MERIGNAC, France — Exosens has added Laurent Sfaxi as director of investor relations. Sfaxi has more than 20 years of experience in the field of financial communications and investor relations, having most recently held the same role at Deezer. The appointment follows Exosens' IPO in June.
ORLANDO, Fla. — Developer of laser cleaning and processing systems Laser Photonics Corporation has appointed John T. Armstrong as executive vice president. Prior to joining Laser Photonics, Armstrong served as a vice president of Astronics Test Systems and as a senior manager for Boeing.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — NS Nanotech, Inc., a developer of gallium-nitride semiconductors for displays and UVC disinfection applications, has added John Bayne to its board of directors. Bayne has more than thirty years of experience and previously served as senior vice president and general manager at Corning, Inc.
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Provider of connectivity and power solutions Qorvo has elected Alan S. Lowe to its board of directors as well as to its audit committee. Lowe has served as president and chief executive officer of Lumentum Holdings Inc. since 2015. Prior to Lumentum’s separation from Viavi Solutions Inc. in 2015, he was employed by Viavi as executive vice president and president of Viavi’s communications and commercial optical products business.

LOVELAND, Colo. — INTELLIVATION LLC, a vacuum thin film coating solutions manufacturer, has added Robert Malay as its application lab director. Malay brings extensive expertise in deposition on flexible substrates, physical vapor deposition, and characterization as well as with application and industrial integration for end users. Along with lab duties, he will represent INTELLIVATION at organizations such as the Association of Roll-to-Roll Converters and the International Converting Exhibition.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Optica and the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft have named Michael Fleischhauer the recipient of the 2025 Herbert Walther Award. The award commemorates Max Planck Institute of Quantum Physics professor Herbert Walther's innovations in quantum optics and atomic physics. Fleischhauer is a professor of theoretical physics at the Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität (RPTU) Kaiserslautern-Landau. He is honored for key contributions in nonlinear quantum optics as well as photonic and atomic quantum technologies — in particular for the development of a toolbox to coherently control multi-level atoms with light, including the concept of dark state polaritons and Rydberg dipole blockade physics.
