The US Air Force has awarded a $20.2 million contract to Lockheed Martin Tactical Systems for the development of its podded electro-optical sensor system. Under the contract, the company will design, build and support the Theater Airborne Reconnaissance System for daytime imaging on board Air National Guard's Block 30F-16C aircraft in adverse-weather and medium-to-high threat conditions. Lockheed Martin will also develop the system's Squadron Ground Station. The system is slated for testing next May.
