Leica Microsystems Names President: People in the News: 4/6/22

CHICAGO, April 6, 2022 — Materials technology company AKHAN has added Kirk Hasserjian to its board of directors. Hasserjian has spent 38 years in the high-technology industry in a variety of leadership roles in research and development, operations, manufacturing, development, and data analytics. He has held positions at Intel, Formfactor, and Applied Materials. He is also a former director of the board of GT Advanced Technologies. Hasserjian holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of San Francisco and master’s degree in chemical engineering from Stanford University.

MUNICH, Germany — TOPTICA Photonics appointed Reto Häring as senior vice president of research and development. Häring previously served as vice president of customer solutions at Instrument Systems GmbH, a technology company in light measurement engineering. He earned a doctorate in the field of femtosecond laser development and optical semiconductor components at ETH Zurich, where he worked with Ursula Keller.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Edge AI semiconductor and software company Ambarella has appointed Brian C. White as CFO. Most recently, White served as CFO at Maxim Integrated Products from August 2019 until its merger with Analog Devices. Before that he was CFO at Integrated Device Technology for nearly six years. Before his role as CFO he served as the company’s treasurer and vice president of finance for six years. He has held financial and operational management positions at companies including NVIDIA, Hitachi GST, IBM, and Deloitte. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Seattle University and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.

WETZLAR, Germany — Leica Microsystems named Annette Rinck as president. Rinck succeeds Markus Lusser, who was promoted to a new Life Sciences position within Danaher Corp., Leica’s parent company. Rinck joins Leica from Honeywell, where she has spent the last seven years, most recently as general manager of global brands and companies within the Building Management Systems division.

NEWTON, Mass. — Life science imaging company TissueVision promoted Stefan Linehan to vice president of operations and development. Linehan will expand the company’s service offerings through strategic partnerships with clients and industry organizations. He will continue to oversee sales and growth of TissueVision’s Serial Two-Photon Plus imaging and solutions platform. Prior to TissueVision, Linehan oversaw mass spectrometry imaging services as director of North America and head of Japan at ImaBiotech. He also held leadership positions at Invicro, XenoBiotic Laboratories, WIL Research Laboratories, and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.

HAYWARD, Calif. — Biotechnology company Eikon Therapeutics appointed Kenneth C. Frazier as an independent director. Frazier is executive chairman and former CEO of Merck, chairman of health assurance initiatives at venture capital firm General Catalyst, and a director of Exxon Mobil Corp.

NEW YORK — Satellite imaging company Satellogic has elected Tom Killalea to its board of directors. Killalea is the former president of consulting firm Aoinle. Before that he held various leadership roles at Amazon, most recently as its vice president of technology for the Kindle Content Ecosystem. He also led Amazon’s Infrastructure and Distributed Systems team, which later became part of the Amazon Web Services Platform. He also served as Amazon’s chief information security officer and vice president of security.

BAD OLDESLOE, Germany — AT - Automation Technology has named Daniel Seiler CEO. Seiler will take over operational responsibilities from the founder and previous CEO, Michael Wandelt, who will assume responsibility for infrared product management. Seiler served as CEO for laser technology startup Cycle GmbH, during which time he served as a member of AT’s advisory board. He previously served as managing director at IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH, starting with the company as an application engineer.
