Laser Photonics Taps New CEO

LAKE MARY, Fla., Feb. 24, 2010 -- Laser Photonics, a maker of fiber and CO2 laser equipment for material processing, announced that David Porter has been named CEO.

Prior to joining Laser Photonics, Porter worked for more than six years with Harland Clarke Holdings Corp., serving as president of Scantron Corp., senior vice president human resources for Harland Clarke Corp., and vice president/general manager at Checks In The Mail Inc. He held several senior management roles in finance, accounting, and business process at Cessna Aircraft Company and Bombardier Corp. during the preceding 13 years.

Porter's hiring was backed by private investment firm Comvest Group, the company said.

"With David's addition, we now have a leader who brings a strong customer focused orientation along with the operating and process discipline necessary to effectively increase the scale of this business," said Steve Albright, Comvest operating partner.
