Laser Components Acquires IR Detector Firm Microwatt Applications

HUDSON, N.H., June 30, 2014 — The Laser Components Group has acquired majority ownership of Microwatt Applications LLC in order to expand production of IR semiconductor detectors.

Microwatt will now operate out of its Florida facility under the name Laser Components Pyro Group Inc. The company manufactures pyroelectric detectors based on lithium tantalate (LiTaO3) for industrial gas analysis, medical technology and flame recognition, and on deuterated L-alanine-doped triglycine sulfate (DLaTGS) for Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometers and terahertz applications.

Laser Components specializes in the development, production and sales of components for the laser and optoelectronics industry.
