The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Laser Institute of America (LIA) have renewed their partnership to help protect workers from exposure to laser hazards. Under a five-year agreement, the organizations will provide annual training on best practices for laser safety, develop a training program based on the seminar and distribute laser-safety guidance products. The organizations earlier developed a guidance document outlining 10 steps necessary to begin a laser safety program in the health industry, conducted 18 laser safety seminars that trained more than 500 workers. LIA is a professional society for laser applications and safety serving the industrial, educational, medical, research and government communities. For more information, visit www.lia.org.
