Celebrating its 50th anniversary, L.E.W. has grown its sales by 60 percent over the last three years, with sales exports increasing by 66 percent to China, Germany, Malaysia, the U.S. and France.

“Our products are used in telecommunications, commercial optronics, defense, automotive and space, and during our last financial year we shipped over one million components across more than 200 different designs,” said Andrew Walker, technical director of L.E.W. “As a build-to-print subcontract manufacturer, our fortunes tend to lie with the fortunes of our customers, and thus we strive to ensure we are very proactive in our support of them.”

L.E.W. manufactures miniature, precision metal and ceramic micro-package components for the mounting and interconnect of specialist semiconductor devices, focusing on leading-edge telecommunications, commercial optronics, defense, automotive and space applications. It has also worked in collaboration with a U.S.-based visible laser manufacturer to design and supply diode laser carriers for Imax laser projections.

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise is an awards program for British businesses and other organizations who excel at international trade, innovation or sustainable development.
