L-3 Communications Corp. of New York has purchased the Raytheon Commercial Infrared business of Raytheon Corp. of Waltham, Mass., for approximately $42 million in cash. The unit, which is located in Dallas, has been renamed L-3 Communications Infrared Products. The business produces uncooled thermal imaging products for the security, public safety, fire and rescue, transportation, industrial and government sectors. It has a customer base in Asia, Europe and North America. The acquisition is expected to add approximately $50 million to its new parent's sales in 2005.
