Kotura Inc., a Monterey Park, Calif., supplier of silicon photonics components, and Ontario, Canada-based Enablence Technologies, a supplier of fiber-to-the-home components based on planar lightwave circuits, have announced a joint development agreement to design and make silicon photonics devices for FTTH applications. Jean-Louis Malinge, Kotura's CEO, said, "Enablence has significant expertise in designing photonics integrated circuits in glass, while Kotura has significant expertise in designing and manufacturing optical components using standard CMOS processes." Arvind Chhatbar, CEO of Enablence, said, "We believe that our Dispersion Bridge technology will bring a new capability to silicon photonics."
