Kollmorgen Awarded $41M for Photonics Masts
NORTHAMPTON, Mass., Jan. 3, 2011 — The Electro-Optical Div. of imaging systems provider Kollmorgen Corp was awarded a $41.2 million multiyear contract to produce eight AN/BVS-1 photonics mast systems for installation on Virginia-class submarines SSN 784-791, as well as on associated engineering services and optional photonics mast spares.

The $41,212,176 contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring its total value to $123,335,849. Expected to be completed by March 2016, work will be performed in Northampton, Westfield, Amesbury, Methuen, Southampton, and Southwick, Mass.; Seattle; Moonachie, N.J.; Joplin, Mo.; Orlando; La Mirada and Murrieta, Calif.; Mason, Ohio; Westminster, Colo.; Radford, Va.; and San Diego.
The contract was not competitively procured, and it will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington Navy Yard, D.C., is the contracting activity.
