Kailight Photonics Demos Signal Regeneration Record

DALLAS, March 2 -- Kailight Photonics, developers of all-optical signal regeneration and wavelength conversion technology, announced it has set a record for re-amplification and reshaping (2R) optical signal regeneration. Kailight said its tunable all-optical signal regeneration (TASR-4000) carried a 10Gb/s optical signal over 20,000 kilometers in a network loop test performed at an independent laboratory.

The TASR-4000 is part of Kailight's line of modules designed to operate within optical regenerators, switches, routers, add/drop multiplexers and cross-connects.

"This test has proven Kailight's all-optical technology exceeds the stringent performance criteria required by today's networks," said Sagie Tsadka, CEO of Kailight. "Future growth of the optical networks market will be driven by next-generation products like the TASR-4000."

Kailight, which has offices in Dallas and in Rehovot, Israel, showed the TASR-4000 at the 2004 annual Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition, held last week in Los Angeles.
