The Traffic Solutions Div. of Jenoptik AG has won a €40 million ($52.8 million) order to equip streets in Malaysia with traffic safety systems, the optoelectronics company reported. Jenoptik will deliver, install and implement up to 550 traffic monitoring systems in Malaysia and will support the operation over a five-year period. The scope of delivery encompasses stationary and mobile systems for monitoring red-light and speed violations and further on-site services, including equipment installation and the implementation of a comprehensive software solution covering the entire process chain. The project, part of a Malaysian government initiative to improve road safety, will be carried out in northern and eastern regions. The delivery and installation will commence this year. First sales and earnings contributions have already been noted in 2012, and will positively contribute to the sales and earnings of the company over the next five years, it said. This is the second traffic order Jenoptik AG has received in the past two years. In the spring of 2011, it won a major order for traffic monitoring systems and equipment from Saudi Arabia.
