MEMS Optical Inc. of Huntsville, Ala., and Jenoptik Polymer Systems Inc. of Rochester, N.Y., have merged with Jenoptik Optical Systems Inc. in Jupiter, Fla. effective today.

The merged company will create a single corporation for the US-based manufacturing operations of Jenoptik Optical Systems. With the merger, the company has manufacturing capabilities including optical lens assemblies, optical components, refractive and diffractive micro-optics made with wafer level techniques, and molded polymer optics.

With today’s announcement, the company now includes 125 employees and 100,000 sq ft of US optical manufacturing across three facilities including Jenoptik IR, also of Jupiter, and Jenoptik Laser Technologies USA of Brighton, Mich.

Primary markets are life science research, defense, semiconductor manufacturing, digital projection, optical metrology and astronomical research.

Jenoptik AG, based in Jena, Germany, acquired MEMS Optical 2006 and Jenoptik Polymer Systems Inc. was established in Rochester the same year. In July 2009, subsidiaries Coastal Optical Systems and Liebmann Optical Company merged to form Jenoptik Optical Systems Inc.
