Jenoptik Medical Laser Order Tops $16M

JENA, Germany, April 1, 2010 — Following the large traffic safety order announced at the beginning of March, Jenoptik has received another major order to deliver lasers for medical use to a US-based client.

The $16 million order covers a period of three years and will be fulfilled by Jenoptik’s Lasers & Material Processing division.

Since 1999, the medical use lasers have been produced at the company’s Jena production site. Applications for the medical lasers include ophthalmology, dermatology, surgery and urology.

Jenoptik is a comprehensive optoelectronics group divided into five divisions: Lasers & Material Processing, Optical Systems, Industrial Metrology, Traffic Solutions and Defense & Civil Systems.
