ICx Technologies, a developer of sensors for homeland and military security applications, announced that its Ion Optics business unit, ICx Ion Optics, has changed its name to ICx Precision Photonics to coincide with moving to a new facility. Originally based in Waltham, Mass., ICx Precision Photonics' new facility is in nearby Billerica, Mass. The new 20,000-sq-ft building will provide additional space for enhanced photonics research and development efforts and increased production, the company said. ICx Precision Photonics makes advanced infrared (IR) photonic devices which permit IR emissions, absorption and transmissions to be spectrally tuned and which are integrated into NDIR (nondispersive IR) gas sensing systems as well as IR beacons and markers for defense and identification applications.
