ICx Ion Optics of Waltham, Mass., a business unit of ICx Technologies Inc., has changed its name to ICx Precision Photonics. The change — which reflects the unit’s focus on the development of infrared wavelength-tuned optical devices — coincides with the company’s move to a new facility in Billerica, also in Massachusetts. The 20,000-sq-ft facility will allow the company to expand its research and development efforts as well as its production capabilities. Infrared integrated subsystems and light sources from the company find application in industrial gas sensing systems and in military surveillance devices.
