IonQ Appoints Senior Vice President of Industry Relations: People in the News: 7/30/2025

COLLEGE PARK, Md., July 30, 2025 — Quantum computing company IonQ appointed Marco Pistoia senior vice president of industry relations. Pistoia previously was the global head of applied research and quantum computing at JPMorgan Chase. Before JPMorgan, Pistoia spent over two decades at IBM Research, where he was the senior manager of quantum algorithms and applications, a distinguished research staff member, and master inventor. In a separate move, IonQ also named Rick Muller as vice president of quantum systems. Muller previously researched at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

PALO ALTO, Calif. — Sciton, a medical aesthetic laser and light-based technology company, promoted two long-time employees to key leadership roles. Emma Haaland, who has worked at Sciton since 2011, was been promoted to vice president of global service and customer experience. She formerly served as senior director of global service. David Marchitti was promoted to vice president of sales for the company's U.S. branch. Marchitti previously held the role of vice president of sales within Sciton.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Silvaco, a provider of software for semiconductor design, added three new members to its leadership team. The company named Andrew Wright senior vice president and general manager of the semiconductor IP business unit, Jasvinder Singh senior vice president and general manager of the electronic design automation business unit, and John Berg vice president of business development. Wright previously served as senior vice president of R&D and new product introduction at Efabless. Singh has more than 20 years of leadership experience in electronic design automation, AI, semiconductor, and autonomous systems and has held senior roles at Synopsys, SiClarity, and Cadence. Berg brings more than two decades of leadership experience in quantum computing, semiconductor electronics, and photonics. He most recently served as vice president of supply chain at PsiQuantum.

 MADRID — Spanish semiconductor company, KD, named María Marced as a member of the board. Marced is a corporate director serving on the boards of CEVA, IQE, and Sequans Communications. She is also the chairwoman of the Global Semiconductor Alliance EMEA Leadership Council. She served as president of TSMC Europe from November 2007 until December 2023. Prior to TSMC, Marced was Philips Semiconductors' senior vice president and general manager of the connected multimedia solutions business unit, and later served as general manager of sales and marketing during the transformation of Philips to NXP. She joined Philips from Intel, where she worked for over 19 years.
