Intel Selects Chandrasekaran to Lead Foundry Business: People in the News: 07/31/24

SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 31, 2024 — Intel has appointed Naga Chandrasekaran as chief global operations officer, executive vice president and general manager of Intel Foundry Manufacturing and Supply Chain organization. The Intel Foundry business encompasses Intel’s technology development, global manufacturing, and foundry customer service and ecosystem operations. Chandrasekaran joins Intel from Micron, where he served as senior vice president for Technology Development. He will be a member of Intel’s executive leadership team and report to CEO Pat Gelsinger.

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Lumentum has named Matthew Sysak as CTO for Lumentum’s Cloud and Networking Platform. Sysak most recently served as vice president of laser and platform engineering at Ayar Labs, having previously served in a variety of leadership roles at Intel. At Lumentum, Sysak will lead the company’s strategy in cloud and networking, with particular focus on AI and machine learning applications.

BOZEMAN, Mont. — Methane imaging specialist Bridger Photonics has added Joel Baller as chief revenue officer and Nate Gorence as chief business officer. The company plans to leverage Baller’s previous experience in building and executing go-to-market strategies for rapidly expanding businesses as it continues to scale its operations in the U.S. and abroad. Gorence most recently served as the chief of staff and chief business development officer at Impossible Foods.

PRINCETON, N.J. — Christine Galib, former senior director of entrepreneurship and innovation for the Ion District in Houston, Texas, has been appointed director of the regional photonics research and economic development engine based at Princeton University and funded by the National Science Foundation. Galib will direct strategic and day-to-day operations of Advancing Photonics Technologies, a collaboration of university, industry, and government agency partners in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Sean Gaughan has joined the photonics engine as business development lead. He was previously employed at SRI International in Princeton.

NORTON SHORES, Mich. — Smart Vision Lights has named Steve VanderZwaag, currently vice president of engineering, to succeed Dave Spaulding as president and CEO. Spaulding will retire at the end of the year, with VanderZwaag scheduled to step into the role Jan. 1. VanderZwaag joined Smart Vision Lights in 2020, initially leading the development and launch of the electronic assembly department.
