The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) announced nearly $32 million in funding for biomedical imaging research, technology development, and the BioImaging North America international network of bioimaging facilities and communities.

Being distributed is $17.5 million among 22 imaging scientists, $1.3 million to BioImaging North America, and $13 million across 13 projects in the CZI Frontiers of Imaging Deep Tissue Imaging program.

CZI also opened a request for applications (RFA) for its Frontiers of Imaging: Visual Proteomics program, aimed at supporting development of technologies that allow researchers to see the inner workings of cells, including proteins, at near-atomic resolution, to better understand what causes disease and how to develop treatments. Applications will be accepted until Feb. 17, 2021.
