Imagine Optic, a manufacturer of wavefront metrology and adaptive optics technology with headquarters in Orsay, France, announced the official opening of its new office at the Cambridge Innovation Center in Boston’s optics cluster. “Establishing a permanent presence in the Unites States is key to showing our commitment to offer the highest quality products, services and support to our US customers,” said Samuel Bucourt, Imagine Optic CEO and co-founder. “Our Boston office will enable us to strengthen our ties with our existing customers in North America and to further develop our presence in one of the world’s most dynamic markets.” Imagine Optic plans to add to its US sales and marketing staff later this year as part of its 2007 goal for 20 percent of total sales to come from the North American market. The company also announced it has entered into distribution partnerships with BNT in California and ESDI in Arizona.

adaptive optics
Adaptive optics (AO) is a technology used to improve the performance of optical systems by reducing the effects of atmospheric distortions. The Earth's atmosphere can cause light passing through it to experience distortions, resulting in image blurring and degradation in various optical applications, such as astronomical observations, laser communications, and imaging systems. Adaptive optics systems actively adjust the optical elements in real-time to compensate for these distortions. Key...
metrology
Metrology is the science and practice of measurement. It encompasses the theoretical and practical aspects of measurement, including the development of measurement standards, techniques, and instruments, as well as the application of measurement principles in various fields. The primary objectives of metrology are to ensure accuracy, reliability, and consistency in measurements and to establish traceability to recognized standards. Metrology plays a crucial role in science, industry,...
photonics
The technology of generating and harnessing light and other forms of radiant energy whose quantum unit is the photon. The science includes light emission, transmission, deflection, amplification and detection by optical components and instruments, lasers and other light sources, fiber optics, electro-optical instrumentation, related hardware and electronics, and sophisticated systems. The range of applications of photonics extends from energy generation to detection to communications and...
