IPG Photonics Promotes Shiner, Expands Sales Force
Fiber laser maker IPG Photonics Corp. announced the promotion of Bill Shiner from director to vice president of industrial markets. He is now a member of the company's management team at its Oxford, Mass., headquarters. Shiner cofounded Laser Inc. in 1973; the company was acquired by Coherent Inc. in 1980. He remained with Coherent in its industrial division until 1995 as vice president of sales and marketing. He then served as COO at Convergent Prima until 2002, when he joined IPG. Shiner is the 2007 president of the Laser Institute of America and previously served on its executive board. He is a member of Photonics Spectra magazine's editorial advisory board. Shiner has authored numerous articles, presentations and a book on industrial lasers and applications. IPG also announced the hiring of two materials processing veterans to its sales force. Dan Eigner was named as Atlantic Coast sales manager, and Tim Webber as Pacific Coast sales manager. Before joining IPG, Eigner was Northeast sales manager at Rofin-Sinar Technologies Inc. He has also worked for Hobart Laser Products Inc. and United Technologies Industrial Lasers. Webber previously served as West Coast sales manager at Trumpf Inc. and worked for Martek/Hobart Laser Products Inc. and Rofin-Sinar Technologies Inc. Eigner is based in Oxford; Webber in the San Francisco Bay area.
