PITTSBURGH, Nov. 9 -- II-VI Inc. unveiled its new Advanced Materials Development Center in Saxonburg, Pa., at the company's annual shareholders meeting. According to Carl J. Johnson, chairman and CEO of II-VI, the 5000-square-foot facility will house the company's development activities for next-generation products, as well as proprietary crystal growth techniques for volume production of advanced crystalline materials. Johnson noted that II-VI invests five percent to 8 percent of its annual revenues in research and development activities through a combination of externally and internally funded development projects.Johnson also announced plans for II-VI to establish a new sales office in San Diego, Calif., to meet the demand for new and replacement industrial laser optics in the western US.
