Honeywell Granted Rights to Optrand's Sensing Technology

Under a signed agreement, Honeywell of Morris Township, N.J., has garnered the exclusive rights to Optrand's fiber optic sensing technology for direct measurement of in-cylinder pressure in engine applications. The sensing enables a higher level of engine performance, which reduces the total system cost required to meet emission regulations. Honeywell has licensed all patents, including pending and provisional ones, along with associated intellectual property from the Plymouth, Mich., company. It will use the technology in its automotive, aviation, transportation, ordnance and marine business areas.
