SAN JOSE, Calif., April 13 -- Flat panel display monitors using TFT-LCD technology will become an increasingly common sight on the desktop, according to a report from Stanford Resources, Inc. The report asserts that the global market for TFT-LCD monitors will grow from $1 billion in 1998 to $2.6 billion in 1999, and will soar to $14.5 billion by 2005.According to Stanford, TFT-LCDs have nearly squeezed STN-LCDs out of the computer monitor market, leaving TFT-LCDs as the technology of choice. Furthermore, the flat panel monitor market is moving toward a hybrid digital/analog interface, which will play an important role in the transition from analog to digital.
