BOSTON, May 19 -- When a subcontractor for the Big Dig ripped through a fiber line in South Boston Tuesday, thousands of businesses temporarily lost their Internet connections -- revealing that their host service, Allegiance Telecom Inc., lacked a redundant connection that would have maintained their service, according to an article in today's Mass High Tech, the Journal of New England Technology.
The day after the fiber cut, in a reportedly unrelated move, Dallas-based Allegiance filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. For the complete story, see: www.masshightech.com/displayarticledetail.asp?art_ID=62603
