CHARLTON, Mass., July 25 -- FiberCore Inc., a manufacturer of optical fiber and preform for the telecommunication and data communications markets, has received a new order for single-mode optical fiber worth $7.4 million from a current customer. The order will be shipped over a three-year period from FiberCore's Brazil-based facility, Xtal.
FiberCore also announced a new Optical Fiber System called GigaGrade Pick and Place, which is a flexible system that enhances the effectiveness of multimode fiber by providing long link lengths at Gigabit speeds in laser-based systems and promising high bandwidths when used with LED's, the company said.
